Noyau | Founder
Melanie Fauteux proves once again that necessity is the mother of invention with her must-try coffee scrub skincare line. She talks women on the go and skin on the glow. Read on.Hey Melanie, What's your story?
I am a Montrealer through and through. I love anything sweet and dislike things that are not. I love the winter and the summer but not really anything in between. I am the oldest of 3 siblings and have the best dog in the world. My skin has always been a problem for me, so the search for relief from that discomfort has been an ongoing one.
What's Noyau all about?
Noyau is all about feeling good in your skin. That’s why I use all natural, organic ingredients and upcycled coffee to exfoliate and nourish your skin and boost your blood circulation. I love everything about my product, I love how it feels and how it smells, I love the fact that we are able to give a second life to some of our community’s waste, but above all, I love the fact that the results are instantly noticeable.
How did the idea to create it arise?
I started this company about 18 months ago, but it’s been years in the making. My impossible skin, my passion for coffee and my willingness - bordering on desperation - to find a simple and effective skin care routine has led me to create something I couldn’t find anywhere else.
I had been making Noyau for myself and my close friends and family for a little while. I would make special batches for them to target their specific needs or preferences. I knew it worked on me and everyone who tried it. Everyone loved it and how it made their skin look and feel.
Why is this a must-have?
Noyau makes your skin soft, smooth and glowing There is no better feeling than being comfortable in your skin. And with Noyau, the results are instant.
Based on your experience, what is the best advice you could give to an aspiring woman entrepreneur?
Believe in yourself, work hard and let your personality shine through.
How are you making the world a better place for the women that will come after you?
The more examples of us there are, the easier it will be for aspiring women entrepreneurs to imagine themselves breaking the mold and doing what they love FOR A LIVING.
I often read about other successful women entrepreneurs and their journeys remind me that if they can do it, then we all can. So I am showing that it’s possible, it’s an option, and more gratifying than I ever expected.
What inspires you daily professionally and/or personally to make a difference?
Getting feedback from clients who are ecstatic about how their skin feels when they get out of the shower. Hearing from other business owners who carry my product asking for more.
How do you define work/life balance and how do you achieve it?
Having the freedom to do the things I want to do, rather than the things I have to do.
Being able to have priorities and spend a proportionate amount of time on them - meeting new people and growing my business should come before dishes.
